Hmm…How long has this been brewing?
U.S. Adviser’s Blunt Memo on Iraq - Time ‘to Go Home’

A senior American military adviser in Baghdad has concluded in an unusually blunt memo that the Iraqi forces suffer from deeply entrenched deficiencies but are now capable of protecting the Iraqi government, and that it is time “for the U.S. to declare victory and go home.”

Yo we ain’t feelin’ it…
Daniel Nasaw on the growing band of Iraq veterans coming out against the war

The mock soldier’s grave in the front yard, along with the bottles of urine in the refrigerator and the anti-war posters festooning the first floor, tell visitors this is not just another group house for politically minded Washington DC twentysomethings.
The bottles, says Adam Kokesh, a tattooed, muscular former US marine sergeant and prominent member of a community of virulently anti-war Iraq veterans based in the house, are to be tested for depleted uranium, a munitions component thought to be harmful to soldiers exposed to it.

Middle East | Arrest tests loyalty of Iraq Awakening

Iraq’s Awakening groups have been given much of the credit for reducing the level of violence in the country.
But the arrest of a prominent leader of one of the groups may signal a wavering of loyalty to the government among some of the fighters, says the BBC’s Hugh Sykes in Baghdad.

Abu Ghraib reborn with new name but haunted by bitter memories | World news | The Observer

The spot where US soldiers forced naked Iraqis to form a human pyramid now smells of fresh paint and disinfectant. The prison wing where hundreds more were executed during Saddam Hussein’s regime is silent and empty, but for a few desks and documents that stand testament to his sadism.
